55 is the one and only UW build. 16 earth and Obsidian Flesh etc. Earthquake + Aftershock or Crystal Wave + Tenai's Crystals etc etc etc. Figuring out your build is half the fun :P but it sure does cost alot of cash....

Places I've soloed within the past week in an Ether Renewal build:

Ettins
Troll cave
Streets of Cantha
First battle of the Wilds mission (to get Ancient Eyes -- a fire build would have been better there)
First battle of Riverside Province mission (in the unsuccessful hope of getting lots of MINOR rune drops -- tricky one because of the necros w/ Wells of Suffering, among other problems)
Big parts of the Aurora Glade mission (even worse for drops)
Parts of Closer to the Stars mission (no way would the whole thing have been possible)
Elona Reach minotaurs

I've also done grawl outside Port Sledge and a lot of desert and hydras and a variety of lower-level areas. Plus Ice Imps outside Ice Caves with the Mr. Frosty Obsidian Flesh build. Plus titans, although I'm still getting the hang of that one.

Not all of these have been particularly efficient, profitable, or fun, but they and others (including Perdition Rock until the minion bombs kill you) are certainly possible.

Francis, when you soloed Nahpui Quarter mission what drops you get? An which build you used? I just started doing that with 55 build and it is good but i would like to try some other builds also.
Any other good solo places in Factions?

The drops on the mission had a hydra/troll cave feel, if you get my meaning. I don't recall more precisely. I happen to have gotten a purple staff with a +5 defense mod, but that was the highlight.

The build was standard Earth/Ether Renewal, except that I put in Sliver Armor for Crystal Wave -- Ether Renewal/Aura/Earth Attunement (not enough enemies for other energy gainers, I thought)/Kinetic Armor/Armor of Earth/Sliver Armor/Aftershock/Stone Daggers

The necro boss and spawns would probably have been impossible to deal with. It's just a place to focus on the tengu.

Given that the mobs were small with a significant fraction of rangers, it wasn't a great place to solo farm with that build. Like Avicara in smaller mobs (but without the mesmers).

EDIT: I see from the link above that I didn't persist enough. Personally, I didn't get a single rune. Indeed, I'm not sure I've EVER gotten a rune in all of Cantha.

OK. I just did a run in Nahpui Quarter. Most of it was avoiding the bosses, but the best drop (a Monstrous Claw) came while I had the monk boss slowing things down with RoFs.

Besides the Claw, I got:

Blue dye
Orange dye
Some cash drops (high double digit)
Some feathers drops (low teens)
A bones drop (ditto)
8 submax whites. The merchant thingks most of them are worth 35 or so, and all are under 50. Salvaged into 2 wood, 7 wood, 4 iron, or 6 iron.
A blue shield worth 37 gold
3 purples worth a little over 100 each at the merchant, one of which is worth salvaging for a try at a Fiery axe mod (got six iron ingots instead -- whoops)
A highly salvageable axe that gave me 10 iron ingots

That feels consistent with prior experience. So it's not as comparable to the troll cave as I previously said.

I still haven't gotten a single rune.

I like to farm 2 places. Jungle trolls (south Denravi) and Ettins (East beetletun). *they say* ettins s'times drop good runes but major are the best i've got so far. My favourite spot is the jungle trolls which drop low level drops but since theres alot of drops i make + 1.5K easy with their tusks, selling weapons and money drops. I go for the ettins when i feel lucky. Best drops so far however are from the jungle trolls - a sundering hilt 20/20, black dye and a few silver dyes.

I tried yesterday it with 55. Drops weren`t so hot apart one gold Celestial Longbow (which i didn´t pick up immediattely and manage to made a mistake and died . Stupid me).
55 worked fine and after a bit tinkering i came up with this build:
attributes:
earth 16
healing 9
protection 8
energy storage 6

gear: FFS with 20% ench mod + cesta
galigords rod + cesta to kill solitaire opponents

Protectiv Spirit
Healing Breeze - this is needed
Sliver Armor - main damage dealer especially usefull with Lights which
otherwise are pain
Crystal Wave
Teinais Crystal - either one could be swapped with something else
Essence Bond
Balthazar´s Spirit
Mending

I managed to kill Kirin boss with this and i suspect that dragon boss is also killable. Turtle and Phoenix are not killable so just run past them.
some tips: try to take Lights out first. Just run to it and cast Sliver Armor and watch it die. With one opponent stop casting anything else but PS and just wand it to death and if it is Light run to next mob. Sliver Armor is so good taking out large mobs and with help of Waves quite fast also.
Main reason to farm this place is Celestial weapons. Remember to bring keys.
I try to do this place again today if i have time. If anybody is intrested i post more results.
Have a nice day and enjoy.

My first five drops ever, ettin farming, included a Sup Death and a Sup Soul Reaping. I've also gotten a Sup Absorbtion, a LOT of Major Absorptions, a Sup Healing, a Sup Fire (dropped yesterday), a bunch of worthless Sup and Major Runes, a couple of Major Vigors, and, although they don't seem to drop minor runes much any more, a few useful minors.

I've also had patches where over 1/2 the ettins didn't drop anything, and most of those that did dropped Hardened Humps. Sometimes, this was right before or right after an excellent drop.

A lot of luck, and also luck in guessing right on how to avert the worst of the anti-farming code.

I use an Earth/Ether Renewal build. Although I experiment with others, I wind up going back to

Ether Renewal
Aura
Kinetic Armor
Armor of Earth
Earth Attunement
Stone Daggers
Aftershock
Rust (because of their Healing Signets)

That build, to put it mildly, is not original with me ...

No, Elementalists don't have Stances. You're talking about Balanced Stance, from the Tactics line from the Warrior profession.

First of all, I've done plenty of soloing using Balanced Stance from the warrior line.

Second, elementalists now also have Ward of Stability against knockdown. In a classic Earth/Ether Renewal solo build, that could keep you invulnerable to knockdown.

I have done some more runs (5) in Nahpui quarter mission and here are results:
drops haven´t improved so no celestial weapons (apart that one i missed ). They mainly consisted whites, some blues and couple purples + money and crafting materials feathers particulary. Runs themselves go smoothly. Couple times i quited because i ran out of storage space. As i said before Lights are trickiest to kill but not impossible by any means. They are only ones that have selfheal (wielders boon) and disruption (wailing weapon) apart from bosses. Nightmare weapon can also kill you quickly so keep that Healing Breeze up. Sliver Armor with the help from Crystal Wave is a way to kill them. You can definently clear whole area of guardians if you wish but it will take time. I never ran out of energy after i got "feeling" of runs. Just don´t overextend and keep always mana for PS.
I have to admit that i thought place would be harder to solo but does that really hurt?
I´ll do more runs and hopefully get better drops.
Have a nice day and enjoy!

Ward of stability. At 16 earth it makes knockdown happy mobs completely harmless.
